This page lists the current projects in which Peace Train is involved.
Levels of involvement: We are involved in basically three ways, depending on the project:
1 ) Peace Train assists in the advertising and perhaps management of funds collections
2) Peace Train creates a component of a program, and maybe does #1 too
3) Peace Train does the whole enchilada - conceives, designs, develops and delivers the event / project.
Projects for 2011
1. Ongoing Speaker Series - coordinate with other groups (e.g. Virtually Speaking, The Rings, Music Island, Four Bridges, etc.) . - level 1-3

- - Mara Bishop (http://www.wholespirit.com)
- - Jenny Edwards ( ) 205 Lives. Spent 6000 pounds and got 205 people off the streets. None at all in Newcastle at xmas time. Used / employed former homeless to help search out.
- - Gwen Fortune, Ed D. ??
- - Success would be 6 speaker / panel events (in addition to PeaceFest) during the year.
2. PeaceFest 2011: Coordinated with the Imagine Festival
- - Internships with ODU
- - Dining on the Peace Train
- - Local concerts / streaming

2. 16 Days on Gender Violence project
- - I'll moderate 2 panel discussions in SL; Saturday Nov. 28 from 10-12pm and another on the same day from 1-3pm SLT

4. April - Earth day - contribute in some fashion, a level 2 commitment

7. November 5-7 - PeaceFest 2010 - level 3 commitment
- - Success could be measured by the following metrics;
- - - $5,000 - $10,000 US dollars raised for the organization(s) identified (total)
- - - University partnership in providing students to get involved in planning and production of PeaceFest
- - - Minimum of 5 interviews / panel discussions
- - - Minimum of 18 live performances
- - - Minimum of 3 ongoing displays (e.g. art auctions, etc.)
- - - Desired combined attendance of 1000 attendees over the course of the 3 days
8. December - Human Rights Festival - level 1 commitment
Things to do
- Schedule board meeting
- Lay out calendar for upcoming year
- Create a viewable calendar (google?)
- Update slpeacetrain.org with comments from recipients and photos
- Update with link to Peace Train FB, Peace Train twitter, Peace Train MySpace, and Peace Train Youtube
- Rekindle efforts to connect with colleges - get one-pager together, connect w/ FB contacts
- Investigate other ways to build Peace Train awareness and contributions
June 2009: Public Charity Status: A major focus over the past months on setting up a 501 c public charity (The Peace Train Charitable Trust), complete with bank account, by laws, board members, and other policy documents. This has now been accomplished. The Peace Train Charitable Trust is a federally-recognized 501 (c) 3 Public Charity.
