Peace Train Board Meeting

February 9, 2010

Attending:  Steve Mahaley, Bonnie Malone, Sue Matukas, Karen Kay

 

- Financials:  191.91 US at the end of 2009.  KK will submit the postcard to the IRS on behalf of Peace Train.

- 2010 events:

- - Feb event postponed till March : Focus on a Benefit for the Children (ASERELA).  Sue to work with Cotton and Gwen on that.

- - May fashion show:  possible mixed reality with auction to benefit a haitian organization (supporting street children) - http://www.zanmilakayblog.org/

- - Jon Seattle for university connections, or TeacherGirl - Sue will talk with her.

- - who to benefit with PeaceFest 10?  three prongs - poverty, human rights, peace initiatives.  Benefit in having 3 to reach to other continents.  Identify 3 orgs in 3 geos.  Possibility to have Education as one of the orgs.  Poverty, Human Rights, Education.

- - Agreement on schedule of events (3 main events and the speaker series). Idea to get Robert Oryem in place as a speaker in advance of March event.

- - Bylaws re: 100% donation to organizations or keeping some percentage for operating expenses:  Discussion.  Decision to review by-laws and make any suggestions for edits by email.

- - Decision to pay Pevensey account to Four Bridges.  Siri to inform millay.  Cotton to pay to millay / or pay device in-world. (done)

- - Discussion of leadership of Peace Train:  all committed, Bonnie interested in capturing events in video and will pursue options. 

- - Agreement to invite Erica d’Aquila to be board member  - Cotton to contact Erica to offer Exec. Secretary position (Sue becomes co-chair along with Bonnie)
